WOW! It’s been two weeks since I tried Botox and fillers for the first time, and I could not be happier with my results!
I first started playing with the idea of getting Botox about a year ago. The small parallel vertical lines between my eyebrows were bothering me. Then about 6 months ago I noticed a friend of mine suddenly looked amazing – youthful, with smooth skin and no wrinkles. I commented on how great her skin was looking, and she replied with “Botox. Shhh.” I knew right away I wanted to learn more. I wasn’t looking for a drastic change. My goal was not to really change my appearance but to enhance it. I wanted that youthful, refreshed look – and I wanted to lose the ‘tired mom of three’ look.
The Consultation: I booked my consultation with Gloria at Ageless Remedies of Roswell for what would prove to be an amazing experience. Gloria began by explaining the various uses of Botox and filler. I learned that Botox is an injection that helps the muscle stay in the relaxed state so that the skin over it isn’t moving to form creases and cause wrinkles. Fillers are used to add volume to desired areas and to add contour. Once I understood what options were available, she asked about my budget. I really appreciated this. Her consideration let me know she was a professional and not a salesperson trying to talk me into spending money. Next, we took photos and I told her the areas I was looking to improve. Then she gave me her professional opinion and suggested a treatment plan. I decided I wanted to try Botox and fillers and share my experience – good or bad – with all of you.
Treatment Plan/Pricing: We decided to use Botox on my Glabellar (my parallel lines in between my eyebrows) and my forehead. Botox costs $10-$12 per unit, and pricing for this area starts around $100 and goes up depending on how much you need. We also decided on Voluma (filler) in my cheeks to contour and lift, and then Volbella (filler) in my lips to improve definition and add volume. Pricing for cheeks starts at a $800 for a syringe, and we did ½ a syringe in each cheek. Pricing for lips typically starts around $600.
The Appointment: The day of my treatment appointment, we took updated photos. Then Gloria applied numbing cream to the areas that would be injected. She began by injecting the Botox in my forehead and between my brows. I honestly did not feel those at all. Next she injected the Voluma in my cheeks and the Volbella in my lips. In addition to adding volume and contouring, Gloria was able to inject more filler in the right side of my face to make my cheeks appear more even and symmetrical. These injections were virtually painless as well. The lip injections were more noticeable- like a tiny pinch- but not painful. It was also the last place she injected so it’s possible the numbing cream was less affective by then.
Healing: Healing time varies per person. The injections were quick and easy, and I had minimal swelling in my cheeks and lips the day following the filler injections. I also had slight bruising on my lips that faded completely in about a week. The Botox took about 7 days to completely set in, but I began seeing results after 4 days. I am now 2 weeks out, everything is completely healed, and I could not be more pleased. From the photos you can tell I have fullness and more definition in my lips. My cheeks are lifted and contoured. This also lifted the lower part of my face and reduced sagging and appearance of jowls. My forehead is much smoother and the lines between my brows is almost entirely gone. My Botox will need to be re-done in 3 to 4 months. Filler in my lips and cheeks can last anywhere from 1 to 2 years.
